CENAPS® (an acronym for Center for Applied Sciences) is a training and consultation firm founded by Terence T. Gorski in 1982. CENAPS is committed to providing the most advanced clinical skills training for the addiction and behavioral health fields. Working with individuals and treatment providers, The CENAPS® Corporation makes Recovery and Relapse Prevention available to help relapse-prone persons stay committed to their recovery.

The Gorski-CENAPS Model of Recovery and Relapse Prevention (The CENAPS Model) is a comprehensive system for diagnosing and treating substance use disorders, co-occurring mental disorders, personality disorders, and situational life problems. The CENAPS Model integrates addiction-specific treatment methods with state-of-the-art cognitive, affective, behavioral, and social therapies.
The CENAPS Model is a research-based system that utilizes the strengths of a wide variety of clinical models while allowing for the integration of new research findings and the ability to adapt to current programmatic and fiscal constraints. The CENAPS Model is designed to be used in cross-disciplinary environments staffed by multidisciplinary treatment staff. Using plain, no-nonsense language to be easily relatable to all, the CENAPS Model can be easily adapted to the personal clinical style of therapists and program managers while meeting the individualized recovery needs of clients.
Roland began with CENAPS in 1990 and is an internationally certified Addictions Counselor. He has worked world-wide as a counselor, interventionist, lecturer, trainer, teacher, author and consultant specializing in addiction related issues working in substance abuse treatment since 1986. As a consultant he has assisted many treatment centers to develop world class addiction treatment protocols as well as to create clinical treatment models.
Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer
Tresa began at CENAPS in 1996 as Terry Gorski's Personal Assistant and the Business Manager of CENAPS. She has been working in coordinating and providing administrative service for over 35 years with a variety of businesses. She has held multiple administrative and financial leadership positions at CENAPS including coordinating training and consultation services with our clients. Tresa serves as a liaison between community organizations, the public, legislators, policy makers and media.
Chief Information Officer and Director of Program Development
Lisa began with CENAPS in 2010 and has worked as a researcher, writer, program evaluator, and graphic designer. She has developed multiple research-based prevention and health promotion programs and has co-authored various works in the behavioral health field. Lisa has worked as a consultant providing some form of development assistance numerous agencies including strategic planning, technical writing, epidemiologic studies, and/or program design and evaluation.

Dr. Grinstead has a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science, a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and a Doctorate in Addictive Disorders (Dr. AD). He is a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, (LMFT), a Certified Denial Management Specialist (CDMS), and an Advanced Relapse Prevention Specialist (ACRPS). Dr. Grinstead is an internationally recognized expert in preventing relapse related to addiction and chronic pain disorders and is the developer of the Addiction-Free Pain Management® System and has authored numerous works on Relapse Prevention and Denial Management. In 2019, Dr. Grinstead published his ultimate chronic pain management book

Alana is a licensed psychotherapist in California, Connecticut, Nevada, Oregon, New Hampshire, and Washington. She has been working in addiction treatment for over a decade, and her practice specializes in helping people as they both enter in and sustain recovery from substance use disorders. In addition to Alana’s clinical practice, she has worked as a trainer and consultant. Alana is passionate about the CENAPS- Gorski Relapse Prevention model and enjoys helping other providers learn to implement the model with fidelity to help their clients.

Bob serves as Compliance Officer at L.A. CADA and is owner of Bob Tyler Recovery Services (consulting, CD private practice, public speaking, continuing education). He is Past President of CAADAC and is on faculty at LMU Extension in the Alcohol and Drug Studies Program. He authored the EVVY Award-winning book, Enough Already! A Guide to Recovery from Alcohol and Drug Addiction and has produced several educational videos shown in over 1,000 treatment centers across the country.
LEONARDO MARTINEZ, MSW

Leo, a Marine Corps Veteran and Licensed Clinical Social Worker has worked in the behavioral health field for over 10 years. His career has included work in both English and Spanish, in the United States and abroad, as well as in telehealth and in-person settings. He takes pride in serving his society by raising awareness, delivering compassion, and leading the fight for recovery and has focused on working with underserved populations. Leo has a Master of Social Work degree, is a husband, and a father of 2.
Instructor & Consultant
Lawrence has worked for 25 years as counselor, trainer, lecturer, and consultant with experience in a wide array of addiction treatment modalities. He has done extensive work with the homeless population who experience addiction and mental health issues. Lawrence has been a consultant to the NYS Department of Adult and Juvenile Probation and served as a Criminal Justice Advocate assisting juveniles. In recent years, Lawrence has focused his attention on relapse prevention and serves as an Administrator for a non-profit faith-based organization.
Karen is a skilled clinician and effective leader and Licensed Educator coupled with 20 years’ experience instructing post secondary education students, securing resources, and implementing effective training and education programs. Currently she works at Circle of Recovery, Inc. where Develops, directs, implements, coordinates and delivers treatment, training, and educational programs for mental health and addiction service delivery. She is a Past President and Board Member of the Georgia Addiction Counselor’s Association and served as the coordinator for the Air Force Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program.
Terry founded CENAPS in 1982. He was known as the "Relapse Prevention Expert" for his lifetime of work advocating for and helping those suffering from addiction and who live with mental health conditions.
Terry developed and trained thousands of professionals on The Gorski-CENAPS Model of Recovery and Relapse Prevention and remains an internationally recognized expert on substance abuse, mental health, violence and crime, and his contributions to the recovery field.
Terry was a prolific writer and authored hundreds of publications including training courses, books, workbooks, videotapes, and audiocassettes. His works have been translated into several languages.
